Specialist Lines

The Faraday Specialist Lines team writes a range of casualty classes, principally in the North American market and UK and International PI market.

Since the syndicate was founded in 1983, we have operated extensively across the US and Canada, where 99.5% of our business is based. Our portfolio is distributed between General and Auto Liability, Medical Malpractice, Professional Lines and Workers Compensation.

We entered into the International PI market in 2015

Our North American insurance appetite is open market for medium-sized professionals (primary and excess) and hospitals (excess), and we write small primary GL and professional risks via binding authorities.  Our International PI book is geared towards medium to large risks on an excess basis.

We are not afraid of any class or structure as long as we can understand the exposures and achieve what we think is a fair price.

We write insurance and reinsurance coverages, the split in 2013 being 27% and 73% respectively. Overall, we lead on 40% of our business, by both volume and risk type.

Underwriting strengths

Our experienced underwriters are open, adaptable and receptive to evolving markets and business needs. We take a keen interest in new ventures and programmes, being able to provide cover for unusual or atypical circumstances when required, provided that we can assess, manage and price for the risk.

Our underwriters are able communicators, who will always give a prompt response and meet or beat deadlines for pricing and risk feedback. We are readily available for client meetings.

The team benefits from strong claims, wordings, actuarial and loss modelling support.
